Help conf iniziale router cisco

Scusatemi ma ho assolutamente bisogno di una mano, ho fatto erase startup-config poi ho salvato ed adesso non ho più nulla.
Ho collegato il cavo console a hyper terminal, ma non riesco a impostare l'indirizzo ip di nessuna porta.
mi da:

Cosa posso fare?

Penso di aver chiaro il problema, ed è un errore di concetto.
Il router in questione ha 1 interfaccia ethernet e 4 porte (ethernet).
Cosa vuol dire? Vuol dire che quelle quattro porte in realtà sono un switch collegato all'interfaccia.
Ne consegue che all'interfaccia devi dare un indirizzo IP, non alle porte.
Lui ti dice, infatti:

% IP addresses may not be configured on L2 links

Gli indirizzi ip non possono essere configurati su link di Layer 2.

Comunque forse mi sono espresso male intendevo che quando configuro la fastethernet0 allimmissione dell'indirizzo ip mi da quell'errore.
Come posso risolvere?

E' stato il primo problema che ho avuto anch'io col mio 837...
Il router ha 4 *porte*, non 4 *interfacce*.

Non devi configurare la fa0, ma la eth0.

Comunque non ho capito una cosa, ma se devo configurare le porte qual'è il comando?
Perchè ogni guida mi dice:
Router(config)#interface ethernet 0
che tra l'altro da me non funziona a meno che non metta fastethernet0.

Ehm...quando ho chiesto la sessione telnet intendevo cosa scrivi tu a manina e non il boot dell'apparato

Allora quello che scrivo è quello che vi è scritto nelle guide che mi sono state consigliate.
Ho seguito pure quella sulla versione per 827 su tiscali:

ma qui mi dà errore al 2l

Ah ok... errore mio, non avevo fatto caso al modello del router.
L'indirizzo ip devi assegnarlo alla Vlan1.
