Sto tentando di capire qualcosa su come configurare il router
Cisco 1720 WIC-1ADSL flash da 16MB e un banco di memoria aggiuntiva da 32MB. IOS c1700-y7-mz.121-3.XP3.bin Alice ADSL 4MB/s Flat
Dal momento che la cosa più complicata che ho configurato era un router adsl D-Link adesso sono nelle canne.
Sto girando nell'help di IOS, sul sito Cisco e sul forum, ma tutto prevede che un minimo di conoscenza di base ci sia.
Ho deciso di cambiare il router perchè ho una rete con esigenze particolari, cioè un iMac che fa spesso upload pesanti in ftp al quale devo limitare la banda in uscita solo su ftp a 24kb/s per garantire la navigazione al resto della rete (192.168.0.6), un pc dedicato a emule al quale indirizzo ip devo aprire le relative porte e deve solo poter navigare (192.168.0.11), un pc che ha bisogno di una serie di porte specifiche aperte o di non avere restrizioni (192.168.0.1), uno che deve poter usare emule con restrizioni di banda ma per il resto deve poter solo navigare
(192.168.0.4), un MacMini e un PC che devono solo poter navigare (192.168.0.9 e 192.168.0.3) e un portatile su rete wireless che deve solo poter navigare (192.168.0.101) più le porte dhcp dell'access point che devono solo poter navigare (da 192.168.0.111 a 192.168.0.121)
oltre a queste condizioni specifiche devo configurare l'adsl. non so neanche da che parte iniziare.
i parametri sul vecchio router sono
PPPoA Routed
Channel=01, Operation Mode= MRFC2364/Routed, VPI= 8, VCI= 35.
User Name: aliceadsl.
Password: aliceadsl.
Encapsulation Mode : AUTO.
IP Address from Service Provider.

ho provato a usare alcune configurazioni per alice trovate qua e la sul forum ma il router non si connette. premetto che sto usando lo stasso cavo del vecchio router e visto che sto postando sia l'adsl che il cavo vanno.

Ho provato anche questa ma il router non si connette, ne avviandolo con il cavo adsl collegato nè collegandolo dopo il boot (ci ho provato...). La spia CD rimane inesorabilmente spenta ma la portante adsl funziona con il vecchio router. Immagino che con la portante attiva la spia CD dovrebbe accendersi a prescindere dalla configurazione, o potrebbe essere ancora un problema di configurazione?

E' vero che ne soffrivano in maggior parte i nuovi 8xx.
Invece proprio domenica ho collegato un 837 con una 12.4(11)T2 compilata il 1-may-2007, su una alice 640, ed in auto non si allineava, mentre in ansi si e' allineato subito! Un vecchio router conexant sulla stessa linea si allinea in G.DMT.
Prima di decretare morta la wic adsl proverei anche la modalita' ansi.
Inoltre l'IOS del 1720 di zortag e' una 12.1(3)XP3... anzianotta direi, anche se non credo sia colpa della IOS!

piano piano dei passi avanti si riescono a fare...
La spia cd si è misteriosamente accesa dopo che ho inserito il comando che mi ha scritto jbg70 per commutare in ansi la porta dsl, ma continua a non farmi navigare. credo che a questo punto ci sia la configurazione un pò pasticciata. dovrei provare a reimpostarla daccapo. c'è un comando o una procedura per resettare le impostazioni senza dover cancellare tutta la flash e reinstallare ios (ci ha messo 5 ore a fare l'upload dell'immagine)?. c'è da qualche parte nel forum una "configurazione-tutorial" dove viene spiegato riga per riga ogni passaggio? se esiste mi postate il link alla pagina? non sono proprio a digiuno di informatica, ho una discreta rete in casa che gestisco senza problemi, non conosco ios, ma con una base magari qualcosa riuscirei a combinare. poi col tempo...
ho letto che esiste un tool di configurazione della cisco, funziona con il mio router? se si come si chiama?
Pare che lo ios che ho installato vada bene, e ciò mi rende felice visti i tempi di installazione. ho cmq guardato quali ios sono compatibili con la mia configurazione hardware e ho visto che ce ne sono di ben più nuovi. però vedo sempre che nella sigla compare sempre la dicitura "y7" mentre quelli che trovo io sono praticamente identici tranne che invece di "y7" c'è SEMPRE "sy7". che differenza c'è? è lo stesso, magari sono ios "oem" o cose simili, o sono sistemi diversi?

Fai uno "sh ip int brief" e vedi se la interfaccia dialer ha preso un ip..se è così è solo un problema di nat o acl.
Cmq x eliminare tutta la config: "wr erase" e riavii.
Per la ios stai attento alla quantotà di flash e ram che necessita.

uff... ho analizzato il listato della configurazione stringa per stringa e inizio a capirne il funzionamento. un passo avanti.
quindi ho confrontato i parametri con quelli della mia connessione (alice) e sembrano corretti. il cambiamento di modalità in ansi si è rivelato necessario in quanto senza il wic non rileva la portante adsl.
ho eseguito il comando "sh ip int brief" e sia atm0 che dialer0 sono up ma non prendono l'indirizzo ip remoto.

La Dialer1 dovrebbe essere piu' o meno cosi':
L'autenticazione sara' tentata prima in chap, e poi se fallisce si tenta in pap.
L'ATM0 e' cosi':
Prova cosi'. L'IP dovresti prenderlo. Altrimenti tocca andare di debug.

poi che si fa col debug? continua a non prendere l'ip. se può essere utile ho notato che la spia cd (anche se non istantaneamente) si accende e si spegne collegando o scollegando il cavo adsl, il che farebbe pensare che il wic non ha problemi.
anche con le ultime modifiche alla configurazione che mi hai suggerito le cose non cambiano.
Non è che qualcuno di GENOVA può venire a contollare il router di persona?
