Carissimi,

c1721(config)#int ethernet 0
Ethernet0 is an internal interface and cannot be configured

Ciao,

Ciao!

The Ethernet interface that is displayed in the show version output (shown as
"1 Ethernet/IEEE 802.3 interface(s)") represents the internal interface that carries traffic between the router's CPU and the 10/100 FastEthernet switch ports. Because this is an internal interface, you are not permitted to configure it. If you try to configure this interface by typing the Cisco IOS CLI interface Ethernet 0 command at the prompt, you will see an error message that states "This is an internal interface and cannot be configured." You can, however, display this interface in the show interface and the show ip interface commands by configuring the Cisco IOS CLI service internal command in global configuration mode. Displaying this interface enables you to view the interface description block (IDB) queue and statistical counters, which could be useful for debugging purposes.
